Often, yes — this is called a repayment plan, one of the more straightforward loss mitigation tools. Instead of paying the full past-due balance at once, you pay your regular payment plus an additional amount each month until you're caught up, usually over 3–12 months.
Timing Still Matters
Many lenders won't discuss this until you're at least 60 days past due, and most won't offer new workout plans once you're within 37 days of a scheduled sale date. Start the conversation before 90 days past due if you can.
The key is asking for it directly and getting the terms in writing — verbal agreements about payment plans are a common source of confusion later.
